NexVentur is seeking a Civil Site Engineer in County Wexford, to join our clients’ team, a well respected Civil Engineering & Utilities contractor.
The successful candidate will support ongoing civil & utilities, streetworks, and water/wastewater infrastructure projects across the Southeast region.
Ideal for an engineer with at least three years’ experience and strong setting-out skills who is eager to progress within a leading infrastructure contractor.
Role and responsibilities
- Perform accurate setting out for civil, groundworks, and utility installations (water and wastewater) using GPS, Total Station, and other surveying instruments.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of daily engineering tasks, ensuring all streetworks and utility crossings are coordinated to minimise service disruption.
- Review drawings, technical documentation, and project specifications specifically related to water/wastewater gravity flows and pressure mains.
- Monitor and record project progress, ensuring compliance with design specifications, Irish Water standards, and local authority quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate site records, as-built surveys, and quality assurance (QA) documentation for all underground assets and civil works.
- Liaise daily with Site Management, Project Engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth site operations and efficient works sequencing.
- Support the implementation of safety procedures, participating in daily briefings and method statement reviews (RAMS) with a focus on deep excavations and urban traffic management.
- Provide on-site technical support to solve engineering challenges, including conflict resolution between new and existing buried services.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a civil engineering role, ideally within civil, utilities, and water environments.
- Strong setting-out ability using Total Station, GPS, and surveying equipment.
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Good understanding of civil construction processes, tolerances, and quality requirements.
- Experience working on fast-paced sites with multiple subcontractors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Good reporting, record keeping, and IT skills, including knowledge of AutoCAD (advantageous).
- Awareness of rail safety procedures or possession of rail safety training (desirable but not essential).
- Proactive, organised, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.
