Our Client is a nationally recognised multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy providing quality services and solutions to the development, property and urban infrastructure sectors for almost 50-years. Offices in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney employ 150 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support staff who safely deliver fit for purpose outcomes to time, scope, budget and quality expectations offering clients a great return on their investment.
Role and Responsibilities
OHS&W
Ensure that tasks undertaken comply with safe working practices and adhere to the requirements of FMG Engineering’s OHS&W policies
Technical and Reporting
- Provide technical skill and advice that is current, insightful and imaginative
- Undertake investigations/field works as necessary in accordance with project deliverables
- Acquire and use necessary up-to-date technical information on a personal and corporate level by actively referring to sources such as regulatory requirements, government publications, professional magazines / institutions and peers
- Implement agreed work scopes as directed or authorised by the Environmental Team Leader or Project Manager
- Prepare and check Environmental reports relating to work undertaken, ensuring that reports address recognised technical and commercial standards
- Undertake occasional out-of-hours work or inter/intrastate work as required
Team Participation
- Assist to build technical expertise and contribute to the dissemination of new knowledge to the team
- Contribute to the ongoing development of in-house technical knowledge to encourage discussion, learning and cross-pollination of creative and technical ideas
- Where possible, assist in overseeing or implementing programs for development and training of junior staff
- Day to day project delivery/site work as part of the Environmental team
- Liaison with the broader Environmental team as required
Production Output and Measurement
- Ensure that agreed customer delivery times, technical objectives and service requirements are met
- Ensure the quality of work delivered is consistent with project requirements and scope of work quoted
Client Relations
- Undertake Business development activities as directed with existing FMG client base
- Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with existing and new clients in order to ensure customer loyalty
- Foster and maintain productive relationships with staff, clients, sub-consultants and sub-contractors
- Assist in providing an environment whereby the company can provide a timely, responsive and accurate input to all client communications
Administration
- Ensure that all administration matters in relation to your position are attended to in a timely, efficient and expedient manner
- Maintain reliable and accurate information and adhere to all document control procedures
- Accurately record time spent on individual jobs and record on time sheet daily
Quality
- Ensure that all tasks undertaken and all jobs produced are consistent with the Quality standards of the FMG Engineering Quality System
- Ensure that Company guidelines, systems and methodologies are strictly followed
- Encourage and promote a culture of mandatory compliance to FMG Engineering procedures
Relationships
- Internal: Environmental Team Leader (SA), SA Manager – Buildings & Infrastructure, Environmental team members (SA), Environmental team members (VIC)
- External: Clients, Government departments, Professional Bodies, Suppliers, Contractors, Sub-Contractors, and any other relevant third parties when necessary
Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering (Environmental) (R)
- Demonstrated capability in report writing at a high level (R)
- Experience in delivering environmental projects in the areas of due diligence, audit, contamination, risk assessment and remediation (D)
- Proven project management expertise in relevant field (D)
- Demonstrated client contact, liaison and management skills (D)
- Drivers Licence (R)
Skills
- Good communication skills at all levels (R)
- Ability to monitor project budgets and set targets (R)
- General computing skills in email, Windows and Microsoft packages (R)
- Competency with Computer programs necessary to fulfil role (D)
