NexVentur is hiring a Quantity Surveyor to join our clients’ commercial department. The company is a leading Mechanical Engineering company in the West of Ireland, withe head offices in Castlebar.

The successful candidate will be a motivated, organised individual who possesses strong technical knowledge in Quantity Surveying and Tendering.

Our client takes pride in the high quality, bespoke solutions which are delivered, and takes satisfaction from delivering yet another designed and engineered solution for our customers, by managing projects from start to finish.

Role and responsibilities

• Formulating claims in line with contractual obligations and any other relevant undertakings
• Ensuring close co-operation with Project Manager regarding progress assessment – accounting for work undertaken and identifying/evaluating of variations/additions to the original contract work
• Providing necessary back up in any follow up to claims – assisting in negotiations and ensuring certificates of payment are issued promptly
• Reporting in detail to the Contracts Manager, on the commercial status of the project
• Maintaining records of claims, certificates issued and of retentions involved
• Negotiating with clients or their representatives

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Project Cost reporting, forecasting and control
• Preparing subcontract documents
• Applications for payment
• Assessing subcontractors’ applications for payment
• Agreeing final accounts

• Mechanical measurement
• Pricing variations

Qualifications, skills & experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
• 5+ years’ experience in a commercial role
• Experience in the M&E Building Services Industry would be advantageous
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of attention to detail and good commercial acumen

Benefits

• Salary €60,000 – €80,000 depending on experience
