Project Manager – Power Station Complex – FIFO - 5446

Location: New South Wales FIFO
Salary: $270,000 + package
Position: Full Time

Our client is leading the charge in driving renewables forward in Australia. They are working on a mammoth $13bn project in New South Wales offering a FIFO roster from any of the main cities across Australia. Role and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for onsite leadership, project management and oversight of all activities for the Powerstation Complex ensuring that the built product meets contractual and quality requirements. This role reports to the Senior Project Manager. The role is accountable for leading and managing the multi-disciplinary team supporting the powerstation build.

Skills and Experience

Team and Safety Leadership

  • Maintain the highest standard of health and safety performance; implementing safety plans, exhibiting behaviors consistent with the Values, leading by example with colleagues, team members; and acting in accordance with Health & Safety policies.
  • Effectively lead and manage construction activities at Lobs Hole on behalf of client to ensure delivery of project objectives.
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop team members in achieving goals, problem solving and improving work practices; applying Values, policies and performance & development processes.
  • Conduct daily site coordination meetings with direct reports; review and provide feedback on site daily diaries, plant and equipment schedules, resource levels.
  • Utilise flexible interpersonal style and appropriate leadership behaviors to build positive and cohesive and collaborative working relationships.
  • Build and sustain collaboration with all project stakeholders to resolve conflict and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Lead and manage the teams.
  • Construction Project Oversight & Monitoring
  • The role provides management and governance for the Power Station build, including the structural, mechanical, piping and electrical disciplines.
  • Work with the Contractor to ensure compliance with the Employer’s Design and Construction Requirements, working proactively to prevent short, medium and long term legacy issues which could compromise the asset performing the way it is designed to..
  • Constantly review construction activities against project program, with the aim of detecting and working with the Contractor to correct any deficiencies in performance before the occurrence of delays or a reduction in quality of the work.
  • Ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with the latest IFC drawings, specifications and other relevant documents; Work with the Contractor to correct discrepancies, omissions or faults in such documents.
  • Provide guidance so that all inspections, tests, acceptances and remedies will be carried out in the best interest of the project, in accordance with the latest revision of the design.
  • Prepare, review and provide commentary on monthly reports
  • Ensure inspection and construction monitoring duties are completed in accordance with the Construction Management Plan.
  • Monitor the deployment of the construction resources (plant, equipment and personnel) and validate resource reports, including, where applicable, resources working on variations and day works.

Quality Management

  • Supported by the Quality Lead – Construction, effectively manage and conduct on-site Quality Management activities to ensure that all necessary documentation is being produced and recorded.
  • Assist the Design Review team and the Quality Management teams in review of Inspection and Test Plans, and ensure that there are adequate resources available to carry out those plans.
  • Oversight of all powerstation construction activities for compliance with quality requirements, ensuring compliance with the approved design and specifications, and approval of all documentation.
  • Monitor progress in every area of construction and reporting to the Project Controls Team;
  • Assist the Planning and Approvals team with review of the Construction Management Plan and any other documents.
  • Assist the Environmental and Safety teams in monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and Health and Safety Management Plan (HSMP).
  • Review IFC documentation.
  • Regular review of the Project program, particularly the individual program for each section of works.
  • Regular reporting (daily, weekly or monthly as required) of the status of work, progress, and include details and mitigations of issues around, progress, quality, and safety;
  • Lead or participate in site status meetings with stakeholders


  • Recognised tertiary degree qualifications in Engineering or Construction / Project Management. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, coach and influence direct and indirect team members. Experience in managing large scale, complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, including hydropower station construction.
  • Demonstrated project management, construction and engineering skills with the ability to lead project activities from inception to completion, including the management of stakeholders, taking into account broader business drivers.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate with, manage and supervise external contractors and consultants.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with autonomy and responsibility; effectively both at site and remotely from site.
  • Able to quickly and effectively adapt to changing circumstances and demands in a measured and constructive way.
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication and negotiating skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders including employees, executives, and suppliers.
  • Sound knowledge of Quality, WHS, Employment and Environmental policies, procedures and standards. Understanding and management of program and resource planning.
  • Proven ability to manage and control project costs

  • Senior Project Manager Lobs Hole – receiving broad direction and advice to assist in delivery of project objectives.
  • Direct reports: Powerstation discipline leads – provide day to day direction, feedback and coaching to deliver project objectives.

  • Project Environmental Assurance team
  • Commercial Team – work closely with project control and contract administration team
