relocate to australia with nexventur

From Leitrim and Longford to Sydney

Background

Siobhán McKeon is a marketing clerk in Longford and Daragh Mc Partland an auto and light truck mechanic from Leitrim. They used their Working Holiday Visas to begin their Australian adventure.

When they began researching how to move to Australia they were very overwhelmed. As soon as the Australian boarders opened up in December, they applied for their working holiday visas. NexVentur were recommended to them by family friends who had previously been to Australia and knew all the ins and outs. Siobhán and Daragh were worried about how much money they needed to survive in Australia; they were also looking for assistance finding jobs and advice on the best places to find an apartment.

How we helped

Our first port of call was to assess Siobhán’s and Daragh’s needs and their skill sets to ensure we’d be able to find a good career fit.

We helped them book flights using our exclusive deal with partner Qatar Airways, we also helped us them each get a Tax File Number (TFN), which is like the Irish PPS number and is essential for anyone working in Australis. We helped them set up their bank accounts in Australia so that when they landed, they were set up and ready to hit the ground running. Any questions or issues arising along the way, and our team was on call to help, ensuring their move was smooth and easy.

Siobhán and Daragh decided to take a two-week holiday before beginning work, which is a good idea for anyone relocating – it helps you settle in and get your bearings. They intended keeping options open for second- and third-year visas, so wanted to get their 88 days’ regional work done first. We had a solar farm on our books that was an ideal fit. Siobhán was placed doing suitable labour work and Daragh was employed as an excavator driver.

The end result

Siobhán and Daragh are now well into their regional work on the solar farm. “It gave us the opportunity to meet plenty of people in the same boat as ourselves and to save a lot of money,” says Siobhán. Although she started working as a labourer, she was trained on site to drive a Moxy truck giving her the additional benefits that come with being an operator.
